Math & Science are FLY!

Welcome to Dragonfly Copters new program initiative designed to encourage excitement, curiosity, and an insatiable appetite for math & science learning.  Our initiative is designed to complement programs such as AMSTI (Alabama Math and Science Technology Initiative) and GEMS (Girls Engaged in Math and Science) and Broaden Your Horizons (middle school girls’ science program). This program is open to all levels, K-12, with a variety of activities geared to specific age groups. With the proper safety precautions in mind, we will land on your school grounds.                                                      

With elementary school students we introduce ways math & science influence and support flight. Students get hands on, up close inspection of a fully operational helicopter and a question and answer session.

With middle school students we include the above activities and introduce experiential activities including concepts of weight and balance, Bernoulli’s Principal, and aeronautical weather concepts.

With high school students we expound on the lessons above with higher level experiential activities demonstrating the physics of flying, science of weather and navigation and the math essentials in trip planning.
